A Metropolis man and woman were hurt Thursday night during an ATV crash in rural Massac County.

Illinois State Police says 25-year-old Zak Anderson was operating an ATV, traveling north on Mt. Sterling Road shortly before 8:30 p.m. when he accelerated as he approached the intersection on Unionville Road. Police said Anderson disregarded the stop sign and attempted to turn left, but ran off the road. He then hit a brick garage.

Anderson and his passenger, 22-year-old Brittney Bradley were both thrown from the ATV, and were later taken to Western Baptist Hospital for treatment of their injuries.

Anderson was charged with driving with a suspended license, running a stop sign, driving too fast and other traffic offenses.
