The Illinois Department of Transportation says work is now complete on one side of the I-24 bridge over the Ohio River.

IDOT says both lanes on the westbound side of the bridge from Paducah to Metropolis are open, but there is still a restriction on the eastbound side. That lane has been widened to help improve traffic flow.

As long as weather permits, work on the eastbound side should be done by the middle of next week. If weather doesn't cooperate, the lane restriction will be taken down anyway, for the Independence Day weekend.

Workers will be adding pavement reflectors in both directions on Monday and Tuesday, using a rolling work zone. Please continue to use caution in the area until all work is completed.
