Wintry Gusts, Light Snow Today And Tonight
By National Weather Service
PADUCAH, KY - 958 AM  TUE   MAR 5 2013

GUSTY NORTHWEST WINDS ARE EXPECTED TO QUICKLY DEVELOP BEHIND A SURFACE COLD FRONT THAT WAS CROSSING OUR REGION THIS MORNING. WINDS WILL BE SUSTAINED FROM 15 TO 25 MPH WITH SOME GUSTS 30 TO
40 MPH AT TIMES. THE STRONG WINDS WILL SPREAD EASTWARD OVER THE ENTIRE AREA FROM LATE THIS MORNING THROUGH EARLY THIS AFTERNOON... AND THEN PERSIST THROUGH TONIGHT. THE WINDS WILL DIMINISH WEDNESDAY.

THESE WINDS WILL BE STRONG ENOUGH TO BLOW AROUND OBJECTS THAT HAVE NOT BEEN TIED DOWN... AND CREATE HAZARDOUS BOATING CONDITIONS ON AREA LAKES. SOME DIFFICULTY MAY DEVELOP FOR MOTORISTS ACROSS THE REGION.

IN ADDITION... A COUPLE PERIODS OF SNOW ARE LIKELY. A BURST OF WET SNOW WILL OCCUR OVER SOUTHERN ILLINOIS... SOUTHWEST INDIANA..  AND NORTHWEST KENTUCKY LATE THIS MORNING AND EARLY THIS AFTERNOON. A
QUICK HALF INCH OF SNOW WILL FALL... MAINLY ON GRASSY AREAS. VISIBILITY WILL BE REDUCED TO ONE HALF MILE AT TIMES.

AS THE STORM SYSTEM PUSHES RAPIDLY EAST OF THE REGION TONIGHT... SOME LIGHT SNOW MAY IMPACT THE EVANSVILLE TRI STATE AREA AND THE PENNYRILE REGION OF WEST KENTUCKY TONIGHT.  AS SURFACE TEMPERATURES DROP BELOW FREEZING THIS EVENING... SOME MINOR ACCUMULATIONS WILL BE POSSIBLE... MAINLY ON GRASSY AND ELEVATED SURFACES. AT THIS TIME IT APPEARS THAT ANY ACCUMULATIONS WILL BE WELL UNDER AN INCH. HOWEVER... WITH TEMPERATURES EXPECTED TO DROP INTO THE UPPER 20S BY DAYBREAK WEDNESDAY MORNING... SOME SLICK SPOTS MAY DEVELOP ON AREA ROADWAYS... ESPECIALLY BRIDGES. MOTORISTS TONIGHT AND EARLY WEDNESDAY SHOULD SLOW DOWN AND BE PREPARED FOR SOME SLICK DRIVING CONDITIONS.
