A Brookport woman was arrested Sunday morning on drug and other charges after a traffic stop.

The Massac County Sheriff's Office says a deputy was on patrol at around 1:30 a.m. in Joppa when he saw a suspicious vehicle in the area of Washington Street.

According to the report, 34-year-old Ashley Jenkins got out of her vehicle and approached the deputy. Police said Jenkins was acting distressed, and appeared to be under the influence of narcotics. The deputy checked the vehicle and learned it had been reported stolen out of Iowa.

During a search of the car, the deputy found several used syringes and meth. Jenkins was arrested and booked into the Massac County Detention Center on charges of meth possession, possession of a stolen vehicle and possession of a hypodermic syringe.
