Caldwell County Jail escapee Michelle Hodge was recaptured Friday afternoon in Eddyville, after being on the loose since Wednesday.

A person matching Hodge's description was reported to be on Highway 93 south of Eddyville, and she was taken into custody without incident.

Hodge was returned to the Caldwell County jail and charged with escape and theft by unlawful taking.

 

ORIGINAL STORY: Police from western Kentucky are looking for a woman who escaped from custody.

According to the Caldwell County Dispatch, 40-year-old Michelle Hodge escaped after being brought back to the Caldwell County Jail.  Hodge had been taken to nearby Lyon County concerning charges there.

Police say a deputy jailer from Lyon County took Hodge back to the Caldwell County Jail and opened the door to let her out, when she started running barefoot.

Hodge is 5' 3", 160 pounds, blue eyes, and blonde hair.  Police say she was last seen wearing an orange one piece jumpsuit. Her hands were handcuffed in front of her. 

She has ties to the Eddyville and Brookport areas.
