UPDATE:
On Saturday, Kentucky State Police released new details in an investigation involving a chase suspect who reportedly shot at deputies in McCracken County on Friday night.
According to a preliminary KSP investigation, a Marshall County Sheriff’s Office deputy was returning home from an event around 8 p.m. and saw a pickup truck towing a camper with a flat tire, driving recklessly.
The deputy tried to stop the driver near Hardmoney Road in Paducah, but the driver did not stop.
As the pursuit continued, the camper disconnected from the truck on Hardmoney Road and the driver continued to drive away from the Marshall County deputy.
Deputies from the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office and Paducah Police officers joined the chase that headed into the Lone Oak area.
According to the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office and KSP, the driver fired shots in the direction of officers.
The McCracken County Sheriff’s Office said several rounds hit the deputies’ vehicles. Investigators said no law enforcement officer fired their weapons during the incident.
In an attempt to end the chase, officers conducted a pursuit intervention technique, or PIT maneuver, but the suspect crashed into a home in the 200 block of Lone Oak Road. No one in the house reported any injuries.
The suspect was taken to a local hospital, where he later died.
KSP said the driver, identified as 26-year-old Robert Wray of Kevil, suffered a gunshot wound, which appears to have been self-inflicted.
No deputies were injured during the chase.

A man was pronounced dead Friday night after he reportedly fired shots at McCracken County deputies during a vehicle pursuit, then crashed his vehicle into a house.
According to the McCracken County Sheriffs office, at approximately 8 p.m, deputies were involved in a vehicle pursuit in the Lone Oak area. Deputies said that during the pursuit, the suspect fired multiple rounds at deputies on several different occasions. Several rounds struck deputies’ vehicles.
The pursuit ended in the 200 block of Lone Oak Road after the suspect’s vehicle ran into a house. The suspect was taken to a local hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.
No occupants of the house were injured, and no deputies were injured during the pursuit.
The McCracken County sheriff has asked Kentucky State Police to investigate the incident.
