The ground shook at 8:46 pm Tuesday across portions of the area.  The USGS reports a 2.8 magnitude quake along the New Madrid Fault Line with the epicenter almost under the Mississippi River between Fulton County, Ky and New Madrid County, Mo.  

Officially the quake was listed as being 6 miles south-southwest of New Madrid, Mo, with people logging onto the USGS website to indicate they felt the ground shake in northwest Tennessee, western Kentucky, and southeast Missouri.

No damage was reported.
