3 Juveniles Charged with Vandalizing Cemeteries

Three juveniles have been charged with vandalizing two Marshall County cemeteries.

According to the Benton Police Department, officers responded to the Benton Cemetery on Monday in reference to a vandalism complaint. Officers found 55 headstones that had been knocked over and damaged at the Benton Cemetery and the Strow Cemetery.

Officers spoke to Benton Fire Chief Harry Green, who told them that someone had also broken into the fire department and stolen some items.

The investigation led to three juveniles being charged with 3rd degree burglary, 3rd degree criminal mischief and 55 counts of violating graves. The juveniles were lodged in the McCracken County Juvenile Detention Center.
