Murray-Calloway County Hospital’s Blood Donor Center is in need of all blood types, but especially type A-negative blood at this time.

Area residents are given the opportunity to donate blood by attending one of the upcoming blood drives open to the community, or by making an appointment at the Blood Donor Center, now at a new location on the first floor of the Medical Arts Building, East Wing, beside the Medical Arts Pharmacy.

The constant supply of blood provided locally to the Center gives the gift of life to many people, and it takes less than an hour to donate. MCCH’s Blood Donor Center is one of only two hospital-based donor centers in Kentucky, which means the blood drawn from our community stays in our community.

A blood donor must be at least 18 years of age (or 16-17 with parental consent), be in good health, weigh at least 110 pounds, and pass the brief physical and health history exams given prior to donation.

The need for blood donors is always needed and always appreciated.  To donate, please contact the Blood Donor Center to schedule a time, or visit us on the following dates at the specified locations:

·  Wednesday, September 17th from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at University Church of Christ located at 801 North 12th Street in Murray, KY.
·  Wednesday, September 24th from 5:00 pm to 8:30 pm at Westside Baptist Church located at 207 Robertson Road South in Murray, KY.

If you are interested in hosting a blood drive, or donating blood, please contact the MCCH Blood Donor Center at 270-762-1119.
