I-24 Open After Semi Rollover Thursday
By WestKyStar Staff
CHRISTIAN COUNTY, KY - Traffic in one or both eastbound lanes of I-24 in Christian County was blocked for some time Thursday because of an overturned semi at the 72-mile marker, which happened just after 6:00 am.
Kentucky State Police say that 47-year-old Paul E. Jenkins of Lakeland, FL apparently fell asleep and the tractor-trailer drifted into the median. As he attempted to steer the truck back onto the roadway, it overturned, blocking both eastbound lanes. Jenkins was taken to Trigg County Hospital by Hopkinsville EMS, where he was treated and released. He was wearing a seatbelt. The truck was hauling cooking oil.
Kentucky Transportation Cabinet officials and state troopers worked until almost 3:00 pm to clear the scene.
