Kentucky State Police have arrested an area dentist on multiple charges.

Troopers say 34-year-old Dr. John D. Mahan of Melber was arrested this past Saturday evening after a 911 call of a "domestic in progress" along Michael Road in Melber.

Troopers say Mahan was arrested at around 5:30 pm, 20 minutes after they arrived at the location.  Mahan was charged with 3rd degree assault on a police officer, two counts of menacing, resisting arrest, and alcohol intoxication in a public place.  He was taken to the Graves County Jail, and has since bonded out on a $10,000 bond, according to the Graves County Jail website.

Mahan currently operates Mahan Family Dentistry along Kentucky Drive in La Center, which according to the office's Facebook page, recently opened in March. He was also a practicing dentist with at least one other dental office in Paducah previously to that, according to his public medical license records.
