Barbecue Off The River Gearing Up for Next Week
By West Kentucky Star Staff
PADUCAH - Since the pandemic has canceled their annual event that draws thousands to downtown Paducah, Barbecue On the River has been working to help some of the cookers and charities continue with their fundraising efforts.

The organization's website has a list of menu items, hours of operation, locations and contact information for groups that are following official guidelines. Eight of the ten participants are cooking various meats, with some offering side items or desserts. Two of the booths are just selling their desserts that have been favorites.

Most groups will be open Thursday through Saturday, September 24-26, and are taking advance orders now.

President Susie Coiner she hopes people will place orders and support these organizations, since Barbecue On the River is typically their largest fundraiser of the year.

Coiner told West Kentucky Star she appreciates those who are participating in the community charitable event, even though, "nobody has done it this way before." She suggested that if someone's favorite charity isn't cooking, they should still make a donation.
