A Benton man was arrested Monday on DUI and other charges, after police say he drove to McDonalds under the influence of alcohol.
On Monday, Deputies received a complaint from an employee at McDonalds in Draffenville in reference to a customer staggering with slurred speech at the counter.
According to deputies, 56-year-old Larry W. Northway, of Benton was unsteady on his feet as he walked out of the building. A deputy then reportedly watched as Northway got in his vehicle and drove away. Upon stopping Northway's vehicle, deputies say a strong odor of alcohol was present.
Police say Northway told them he had been drinking a bottle of raspberry vodka that was in his front seat and that he would fail a sobriety test.
Northway was arrested and charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence, Failure to Wear Seat Belts, No Tail Lamps, Improper Equipment and Possession of an Open Alcoholic Beverage Container in a Motor Vehicle. He was booked into the Marshall County Detention Center.
