Benton Street Closures Begin Today

As of today, construction crews will begin storm drain and culvert improvements in Benton.

Beginning at 9:00 am, traffic will be diverted from Poplar Street to 6th Street, which is the area between Regions Bank and Hutchens. None of the businesses beyond 6th and Poplar will be accessible via the normal routes, however they can be accessed through alternative routes.

The intersection of 5th and Main will be two-way traffic on Main to Regions Bank.

The improvements to the drains and culverts are an attempt to alleviate flooding issues in the area.

Work could continue for 6-8 weeks, but officials are hopeful it can be completed sooner.
