According to Kentucky State Police Post I, they received a call from the Livingston County Dispatch about a woman knocking on doors in Grand Rivers, early Friday morning just before 12:30. They also received calls about a vehicle that she was thought to be driving.
A short time later, KSP saw the vehicle on Forrest Road, and they located 39-year-old Loretta D. Sims in the lobby of a nearby motel. They report that she appeared to be under the influence and admitted to smoking methamphetamine.
Sims told troopers she left a home and found a vehicle, unlocked with the keys in the ignition. She allegedly took the vehicle without permission of the owner.
She was arrested and charged with theft by unlawful taking, (automobile $500 or more, but under $10,000), 1st offense DUI, and operating a motor vehicle with an expired operators license.
Sims was taken to the McCracken County Regional jail.
