Gov. Steve Beshear held a press conference Tuesday in Hopkinsville to announce an increase in the speed limit on U.S. Highway 68/Kentucky Highway 80 in western Kentucky.

The announcement was on the lawn of Eastview Baptist Church on Russellville Road. Beshear raised the speed limit to 65 MPH between Cadiz and Bowling Green.

U.S. Representative Ed Whitfield joined Beshear, along with Kevin McClearn, chief District Engineer with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.

US-68 and KY-80 share the same road from the Eggners Ferry Bridge in Marshall County to Edmonton, which is just east of Glasgow.
