Body of IL Boater Found Near Columbus

COLUMBUS, KY - Hickman County Kentucky Sheriff Mark Green has confirmed that the body of Robert Goins has been recovered from the Mississippi River.
Goins is the 43-year-old Villa Ridge, Illinois man who went missing Sunday when he fell from a john boat while on the Ohio River.
Green said on Thursday that Goins body was located around 10:30 pm Wednesday in the Mississippi River in Columbus, Kentucky.
Green said the location of Goins body shows that "Who ever knows what the river is gonna do. As low as it is, I kind of figured they would probably recover him closer to that area (where he was last seen) than to be this far down."
He said that if one stands at the boat ramp where the recovery took place, it doesn't seem like much of a distance between there and where he was last seen on the Ohio River. But Green added, "but to drive it, it's twenty-five miles from here."
Goins body has been taken to Louisville for autopsy.
