The Ballard County Sheriff's Department has confirmed to West Kentucky Star that the body of 8-year-old Skyleigh Pool has been recovered.

The little girl was found about a quarter of a mile from her home Thursday morning.

Dean Patterson with Kentucky State Police says Skyleigh's body was found in a pond near her home. No foul play is suspected.

She was found wearing the clothes she was reported missing in, but without shoes around 8:00 am. Her cause of death has not been released.

Family members have been notified. 

The Ballard County coroner is on the scene. Kentucky State Police are still investigating.

Officials in Ballard County have issued a Golden Alert for a missing girl with special needs.  

According to police, 8-year-old Skyleigh Pool has been missing since 5:00 pm Wednesday. Police said Skyleigh has developmental delays and is nonverbal.

Skyleigh is described as a white female, 4ft 7 inches tall, 47 pounds, blue eyes, and brown hair. She was last seen wearing a black and white t-shirt with a flower pattern and blue jean shorts.  Skyleigh was last seen on County Farm Road.

Kentucky State Police, Ballard County Sheriff’s Department, McCracken County Sheriff’s Department, Graves County Sheriff’s Department, Ballard County Search and Rescue, Emergency Management are conducting a search in the area where the child was last seen.

Police say it is crucial she is located as soon as possible.  If you see a child fitting this description, please call the Kentucky State Police at 270-856-3721 or local law authorities immediately. 

Police are telling us they are now asking for volunteers to help search for Skyleigh. If you want to help search for Skyleigh Pool, go to County Farm Rd in Ballard County. There you will be asked to sign up and be given instructions on where they need you to search. She has been missing for going on 16 hours now.
