Bomber Back-To-School Bash is August 4 at BMHS Gym

LACENTER, KY - The fifth annual “Bomber Back-to-School Bash” will be held Saturday, Aug. 4, from 7 am to 12:30 pm.
All students in the district will register for class, receive orientation information at all of Ballard’s schools, and be eligible to win a door prize. (See a complete schedule of class orientations below)
In addition to students and parents, the public is invited to a health and community resource fair in the Ballard Memorial High School gym at 3561 Paducah Road, Barlow, during those hours. The Ballard County Welfare Society again will be stationed in the BMHS band room from 7-9 am with clothing vouchers for families who qualify. The door is located across the west parking lot from the tennis court, and applicants may wait in the BMHS hallway adjacent to the room.
Orientation times for kindergarten through high-school seniors are scheduled on that day, beginning at 9 am.
Preschool class groups will meet their new teachers in their classrooms at the school at 455 Olive St. in LaCenter, in a drop-in session held from 9-11 a.m.
Parents also may drop in any time from 9-11 am this year at Ballard County Elementary School, 3383 Paducah Road, Barlow, regardless of their child’s grade-level. All BCES teachers will be in their classrooms that day.
BMHS orientations start at 9 am for students in grades 10-12; BCMS orientations start at 10:45 am with sixth grade and other new students at 3565 Paducah Road, Barlow.
Everyone who attends the Bash is invited to complete a survey for Family Resources and Ballard County ASAP in the BMHS gym to enter for a chance to win a tablet computer. (Winner does not have to be present at the time of the drawing to win.)
The community-wide health fair at will be on the BMHS gym floor from 8 am - noon, featuring more than 20 area participants. The public is welcome. Volunteers from local and regional health care providers will offer free blood pressure and other screenings.
As always, the top of the high school gym will host a community fair with a local service, business and college/university representatives during the same hours. Family Focus Family Resource Center will be in the concession stand area with free general school supplies for qualifying families.

"A Day in the Life of Your 6th Grader" and Book Fair
In addition to the annual Bomber Bash both Ballard County Middle School and the Bomber Media Center shared by BCMS and Ballard Memorial High School will have additional back-to-school events.
BCMS will hold “A Day in the Life of Your Sixth-Grader” on Thursday, Aug. 2, from 6-7:30 pm. All incoming sixth-graders and their parents are invited to this introduction of new teachers and new classes and the new life in middle school.
The Ballard County Middle/Ballard Memorial High School media center will hold a book fair, starting the night of the middle school’s event. The book fair also will be open during Bomber Bash on Aug. 4. Parents and students may come and see what books and other materials will be available.
