California Fugitive Arrested in Mayfield

A fugitive from California was arrested Tuesday in Mayfield.

Graves County Sheriff Dewayne Redmon reported that Carlos Simon Escamilla was arrested at a home on South 8th Street in Mayfield. 

Escamilla was wanted in San Diego, California on charges of rape of a minor and three other sexual offences including kidnapping.

Escamilla was lodged in the Graves County Jail on a local charge of fugitive from justice. His bail was set on the original warrant from San Diego, California at $1,000,000.

Escamilla's arrest was a joint effort involving the US Marshal's Service, the Graves County Sheriff's Office, the McCracken County Sheriff's Office and the Marshall County Sheriff's Office.
