Calloway Middle Speech Team Wins Regional Title

MURRAY, KY - Calloway County Middle School Speech Team defended their first place title in the region Saturday, Feb. 9th at the Murray Region Speech Tournament at Murray State University. All twenty-one CCMS students competing at the Regional tournament qualified to advance to the Kentucky High School Speech League State Tournament in March.

The following students were regional champions in their events: Madison Evans in broadcasting, Kate Stewart in public Speaking and Sierra Todd in storytelling. Maddie Rose was crowned Regional champion in all three of her events: declamation, poetry and prose.

Seven students placed second in their events including Sierra Todd in broadcasting, Cheyenne Bucy in declamation, Kalea Anderson in poetry, Sarai McCallon in prose, Lauren Hale in Public Speaking and the duo acting team of Elena Dinh and Kaylee Lax.

Students also advancing to the state tournament include Chloe Jones, Emily Garland, Liz McClain, Karigan Mickeletto, Jamison Moorehead, Carston Murphy, Eleri Gesler, Lizzie Balmer, Hailey Robinson, Rebbie Balmer, Kyla Mitchell, and Taylor Smith.

The Calloway County Middle School Speech Team will compete in the Kentucky High School Speech League State Tournament on March 14-16th in Lexington at the University of Kentucky.
