Two Murray men were hurt early Wednesday morning in a single-vehicle crash.

Calloway County Sheriff Sam Steger said deputies responded at 12:24 a.m. to a single-vehicle crash in the 500 block of Douglas Road. Steger said the driver, Jake Wrye and passenger, Austin Brittain, were still inside the vehicle. Both Wrye and Brittain had to be extricated from the vehicle.

Steger said the vehicle hit several trees and two different ditch lines. He said the engine broke free from the vehicle and landed in a creek bank several hundred feet away.

Wrye and Brittain were both taken to Murray Calloway County Hospital for treatment. Brittain was later flown to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville for further treatment.
