A Calvert City man was arrested Saturday for stealing a license plate and other charges, after police responded to a wreck in Marshall County.

According to the Marshall County Sheriff's Office, on Saturday a deputy responded to a single-vehicle crash on Little Cypress Road. The driver, 18-year-old James Maynard, of Calvert City reportedly told police the car ran off the road and hit a mailbox due to a mechanical problem.

Police said the license plate on the vehicle came back stolen from McCracken County. Maynard told police he had been staying in McCracken County with a friend near the area from which the plate was stolen. Maynard's actual address was also reportedly different from his driver’s license.

Maynard was arrested and charged with theft of motor vehicle registration plate, no registration receipt, no registration plates, improper registration plate, failure to register transfer of motor vehicle, failure to notify department of transportation of address change, and 3rd degree criminal mischief.
