At a press conference Wednesday, a plan of action for Carlisle County and its incorporated cities was announced with the goal to boost local tourism and other economic development.

The county has begun an Economic Development and Tourism Study to determine the best plan of action for the new direction. The research will be used to brand and advertise the community through digital media in order to reach deeper and further than before.

Carlisle County plans to join forces with other existing development programs in the four river counties, such as the Ballard County Destination Branding Initiative. Expectations are for a bigger presence for site selectors, tourists, residents, and small businesses to discover what Carlisle County has to offer.

Carlisle County Judge-Executive Greg Terry said he is excited, but knows the public has to get involved. He encourages everyone to be involved, and to find ways to make a living in the county without moving to other locations.

Several public events to discuss the plan of action will be scheduled in the next few months. The first will be November 2 at the Carlisle County Senior Center at 6 pm.
