Child Hurt as Man Pushes Wife From Truck
By WestKyStar Staff
CALVERT CITY, KY - A Calvert City couple was arrested Monday after one of their children fell from their truck and was injured.

Marshall County Sheriff's Department received a call about 6:30 pm from someone who saw a woman laying in the road on Dr. Smith Lane with a man standing nearby, and they were screaming at each other. The caller reported that the man forced the woman back into the truck and they drove away.

While deputies continued searching for the vehicle, the Marshall County Hospital called a short time later to report that a child had been brought to the Emergency Room because it had fallen from a vehicle. Upon arrival shortly after 8:30 pm, deputies learned that this patient's family was involved in the earlier incident.

Their investigation revealed that the man and woman were the parents of two children, one of whom had been restrained in a carseat, while the other was sitting in the mother's lap. When the woman was pushed from the vehicle, the child fell out and was injured. After the family returned to a Benton motel, family members brought the child to the hospital. Both parents had allegedly been drinking.

Deputies arrested 28-year-old John Hega and 30-year-old Kristin Hega of Calvert City. They face charges of criminal abuse 1st degree and endangering the welfare of a minor. They were taken to Marshall County Detention Center.
