A Hickman County man is behind bars after leading police on a high-speed chase Saturday.

According to the Fulton County Sheriff's office, a motorcycle operated by 39-year-old Terry Mayes of Clinton was clocked at 118 miles per hour on State Route 166 near Fulton. As Mayes approached a highway safety checkpoint, a roll-back tow truck was used by police to block the roadway. Mayes attempted to go around the truck but was tackled by police while still on his bike and taken into custody.

Mayes was charged with speeding, fleeing or evading police and multiple counts of wanton endangerment. He was lodged in the Fulton County Detention Center.
