Closure of I-24 Tennessee River Bridge Postponed
By West Kentucky Star Staff
GRAND RIVERS - The closure of the eastbound side of the I-24 Tennessee River Bridge on Sunday night has been cancelled.

The contractor will not be able to pour concrete on the bridge as planned, so the work will be re-scheduled.

Original Story:

The eastbound lanes of the I-24 Tennessee River Bridge will be closed on Sunday, November 11.

A contractor will be pouring concrete as part of an ongoing joint installation project, so the Interstate will be closed from 7 pm Sunday until about 6 am on Monday.

Message boards will be in place directing traffic to detour onto US Highway 62 east and KY 453 North, where vehicles will merge onto I-24 at Grand Rivers. Even though the rate of traffic on I-24 drops after about 7 pm, the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says substantial delays are possible during the closure.

Drivers going toward Nashville from Paducah are encouraged to use I-69 south to US Highway 68, and re-enter the Interstate at exit 65 in Cadiz.

This is the first of several closures that will be required for the project.
