BOWLING GREEN, KY - A structural engineering firm has determined that the area around a large sinkhole that opened up Wednesday morning at the National Corvette Museum is stable. The Skydome and its 40-foot wide chasm is closed off, but the rest of the facility is open for tours.
Security camera video footage of the sinkhole collapse, along with helicopter drone footage inside the sinkhole are on the museum's Youtube channel (linked below). Photos of the sinkhole, cars that were affected and readerboard information on each car can also be viewed.
Museum officials have hired a construction manager to oversee repairs. All cars that were on display in the museum's Skydome not affected by the sinkhole have been removed from the immediate area.
Financial contributions to the museum can be made at the museum's website.
The museum in Bowling Green is open daily from 8:00 am-5:00 pm, and is located at I-65 exit 28.
