Eastbound lanes of I-24 were blocked for several hours Friday morning after an injury crash involving a motor home at the 27 mile marker near Calvert City.

Marshall County 911 Dispatch reported the accident about 7 a.m. when the RV went down an embankment between two bridges.

Traffic on I-24 was backed up for more than four miles at times.

Traffic was also stopped by law enforcement for a time to allow a medivac helicopter to pick up an injured person.

Responders were at the scene for several more hours, as recovery of the RV continued into the afternoon. One lane of traffic was reopened by about 1 p.m.
