A two-vehicle collision Thursday morning near Mayfield claimed one person's life and injured two others.

According to the Graves County Sheriff's Department, the accident happened about 6:30 am at the intersection of US Highway 45 and Powell Road. Deputies say a car driven by 24-year-old Mia Todd of Mayfield was northbound on highway 45 when an SUV driven by 60-year-old Tilley Ann Stanley of Hickory pulled onto the highway from Powell Road, and into the path of Todd's vehicle, causing a collision.

Tillie Ann Stanley and her passenger, 58-year-old Nancy S. Stanley of Hickory, were ejected from the SUV, and the driver was pronounced dead at the scene by the Graves County Coroner. Nancy Stanley was taken to Jackson Purchase Medical Center and then flown to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville for treatment of head injuries. Todd was also taken to Jackson Purchase Medical Center for treatment.

US Highway 45 was closed for about two hours while the accident was investigated and the scene was cleared.

Deputies say the Stanleys were not wearing seatbelts, but Todd was restrained in her vehicle.

Mayfield Police and Fire Departments, Mayfield/Graves County EMS and Fire-Rescue, Melber Fire Department, Kentucky Emergency Management and Kentucky Transportation Cabinet helped at the accident scene.
