Miller is a graduate of Graves County High School and holds education and administration degrees from Murray State University.
She has taught for 13 years, beginning at Carlisle County Middle School, before moving over to Graves County Middle School. For the past seven years, she has taught fifth grade at Wingo Elementary School. She has served there for the past six years as principal designee.
She also has been a member of the Graves County Schools’ District Instructional Leadership Team for the past seven years.
Her husband, Tim Miller, is a co-owner of Triple M Construction Company, based in Graves County. They have three children: Molly, 7, soon to be a second grader; Mary Kate, 4, a preschooler this fall; and Max, who is 20 months old.
“Cuba Elementary is a great school with a very caring faculty and staff,” Lora Miller said. “I’m really excited to be a part of it and to have the chance to work with students and adults in a way that I think I can be effective and helpful in furthering student learning. I’m looking forward to August!”
“Lora brings a wealth of knowledge to the instructional efforts at Cuba. She really understands the vertical progress necessary from one grade to the next,” said Graves County Assistant Superintendent for elementary instruction Kim Harrison. Harrison will fill the position of superintendent July 1. “Lora has a tremendous passion and energy that I believe not only will fit in really well at Cuba, but also will add to the instructional efforts district-wide.”
Miller takes over from Amanda Henson, who serves as Cuba’s teacher-leader in recent months, following the death of principal Jill McClain.
