Dire Need for Blood Reported in Area Hospitals

NASHVILLE, TN/ PADUCAH, KY - The Tennessee Valley Region of the American Red Cross, which serves western Tennessee and Kentucky, has issued an urgent request for specific blood types, as hospitals are reporting that the need for blood is outpacing donations.
The blood types are A-negative, B-negative, and O blood types.
A world-wide blood donation day was held on Thursday, June 14th, but the need is still great.
Those eligible for donation are asked to call 1-800-RED-CROSS to find a location and schedule an appointment. To donate, an individual must be at least 17 years of age, weigh at least 110 pounds, and be in good overall health.
