Dog Adoption, I.D. Day Saturday in Murray
By WestKyStar Staff
MURRAY, KY - The Humane Society of Calloway County will have a Dog Adoption Day and Pet I.D. Clinic at Tractor Supply in Murray on Saturday, Aug. 18 from 10 am – 2 pm in conjunction with their Pet Appreciation Week. Adoptable dogs will be on hand along with information on adoptable cats.
The Humane Society will microchip pets for $10 and engrave custom pet ID tags for $3. Microchips are a permanent way of identifying their dog or cat by implanting a grain-of-rice-sized microchip under the pet’s skin.
Custom identification tags will bemade for $3 each. The Humane Society strongly recommends both an identification tag as well as the microchip. Statistics indicate that the overwhelming majority of animals that enter shelters have no form of identification and make it almost impossible to reunite the animal with its caretakers.
Digital photographs will also be taken of each animal for the Humane Society’s FREE Lost Pet Photo Registry. The photo is kept on file in the unfortunate event that the animal gets lost or separated from its owner.
The Humane Society will also have DNA test for dogs. Tractor Supply will be holding a silent cake auction. Kyle Addison will be on hand with his drug dog and A Cut Above pet groomer will trim nails and answer your grooming questions. FFA students will provide watering stations for the pets.
The Humane Society asks that dogs be brought on leashes and cats in carriers.
