Domestic Violence call Leads to Drug Arrest

BENTON, KY - A Benton man was arrested on drug and weapons charges Wednesday after police arrived at his home to investigate a domestic violence call.
On Wednesday, State Troopers responded with the Marshall County Sheriffs Department to a Domestic Violence complaint on US 68 East.
Deputies arrested 48 year-old Byron Butler for actions involved in the original complaint.
While investigating, police obtained information that Butler had an indoor marijuana growing operation in his home. A search warrant was obtained which led to the discovery of 15 marijuana plants, methamphetamine, prescription drugs, drug paraphernalia and a defaced firearm.
Butler is charged with Domestic Assault, Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of a Controlled Substance 1st degree Methamphetamine, Cultivating Marijuana over 5 plants, Possession of a Controlled Substance 2nd degree drug unspecified, Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd degree drug unspecified, Prescription drug improper container, Possession of drug paraphernalia, and defacing a firearm.
State Troopers were assisted by the Pennyrile Narcotics Task Force, Kentucky State Police K-9, and the Marshall County Sheriffs Department.
Butler was lodged in the Marshall County Jail
