Downtown Building Collapses in Mayfield
By West Kentucky Star Staff
MAYFIELD - Thursday's high winds caused a building to collapse in downtown Mayfield.

It happened around 11:30 am. The building is located at 112 West Broadway, near the Graves County Courthouse.

The area around the collapse site was evacuated while Atmos Energy workers capped a gas leak. All utilities at the building were shut off.

No injuries were reported. The building was reportedly vacant.

Mayfield Fire Department Chief Jeremy Creason said the alley connected to the collapsed building has been closed off. He said city workers will inspect the building on Friday to see if it can be salvaged or if it needs to be condemned.
