Authorities in Graves County are investigating a string of thefts from unlocked vehicles over the weekend.

Graves County Sheriff Dewayne Redmon says the first call about a theft came in Saturday at around 11:30 p.m. He says the thefts occurred in an area spanning about 15 miles, including areas of Jimtown Road, Dublin Road, Central Road, Pleasure Drive, Autumn Ridge, King Road, and other spots. All of the thefts were from unlocked vehicles. In total, Redmon says about 45 victims have come forward.

"They took tools, Christmas gifts, change, and stuff like that. They really took nothing that can be traced." Redmon said. He said some of the vehicles had firearms in them, which were not taken.

Deputies are reportedly looking for two males and a female in a white vehicle who were captured on surveillance footage during one of the thefts. That video has not been released to the public.

Redmon shared some easy advice to help people avoid being victims of these types of thefts - lock your doors.

"If you don't have a garage, park in a well lit area. Be sure to lock the doors," He said. "The last two or three rounds of vehicle break-ins that we've had they didn't break into the vehicles at all. They got the vehicles that were unlocked."

Anyone with information about the thefts is asked to contact the Graves County Sheriff's Office at 270-247-4501.
