A Mayfield man was seriously hurt in a single-vehicle collision Saturday morning.

The Graves County Sheriff's Department responded at 7:39 am to Kentucky Highway 121 at the intersection of Highway 1213. They found the driver, 24-year-old Stevieon Houston injured and lying on the ground. Deputies say they determined that Houston has been in Cairo overnight, and was driving to work when he fell asleep at the wheel. The vehicle reportedly left the road and went up an embankment. The vehicle went airborne, traveled between a utility pole and a guy wire, landed on its roof and slid several feet before stopping.

Houston was taken to Baptist Health Paducah by Mayfield-Graves County EMS for treatment of his injuries. Deputies said he was in stable but serious condition when they issued their press release Saturday evening.

Good Samaritans helped at the scene, along with Affordable Towing.
