EF-2 Tornado Damages 2 Churches in Livingston Co.

The National Weather Service in Paducah has confirmed that an EF-2 tornado struck the Livingston County community of Hampton Saturday afternoon.

The tornado touched down at 3:18 pm southeast of Hampton and traveled northeast about 1.5 miles. Winds were clocked at 120 miles per hour, and the tornado's path was 175 yards wide.

North Livingston Baptist Church at 967 Carrsville Road sustained damage to its auditorium and kitchen. The church was in the former Hampton Elementary School. They held services Sunday morning at Livingston County Middle School.

Hampton Methodist Church at 719 Hampton Road, lost its steeple and some shingles as a result of the storm.

Other damage included shingles blown off the roofs of homes, downed trees and outbuildings with exterior damage. 

There were no injuries.
