Temperatures in the low to mid 90's combined with oppressive humidity levels are sending the heat index temps near or past the 110 degree mark again this afternoon. The National Weather Service in Paducah has issued an excessive heat warning for several counties, and a heat advisory for the rest of the area in effect until 7 p.m.
An excessive heat warning means that a prolonged period of hot temperatures and high humidity levels are expected. This combination will create a situation in which heat illnesses are possible. If you work or plan to spend much time outside... take frequent breaks and drink plenty of fluids. If possible... stay in an air-conditioned environment... stay out of the sun as much as possible... and checkup on relatives, neighbors, and pets.On the Net:
