Extreme Cold Causing Ice Issues at Hickman Harbor
By West Kentucky Star Staff
HICKMAN - The extremely cold weather is causing major issues for port officials in Hickman.

KYTN reports that the constant temperatures in the teens and single digits has resulted in the Elvis Stahr Harbor freezing over, with large amounts of ice now flowing down the Mississippi River.

Wepfer Marine Port Captain Terry Roncali said the harbor ice makes for a difficult time in moving barges.

With ice flowing down the main river channel, Roncali said loading and unloading barges becomes very dangerous for the boats and deckhands.
