Average retail gasoline prices in Kentucky have fallen 16 cents per gallon in the past week, according to GasBuddy.com. That brings the state average down to $2.35 a gallon, compared to the national average of $2.47 a gallon, down 13 cents.
Prices on Monday were as low as $2.01 in Murray, and $2.08 in Paducah.
"Nationally, gas prices saw their largest weekly drop of the year," said Patrick DeHaan, GasBuddy senior petroleum analyst. "The national average now stands at its lowest point since April, a fitting way to close out the summer driving season with Labor Day approaching.
"Since June 30, oil prices have fallen 23% while retail gasoline prices have fallen about half that amount, so gasoline prices will move lower again this week," DeHaan said.
