Fatal I-24 Collision Leads to Murder Charge

A Colorado man has died in a two-vehicle crash on I-24 in Christian County, and the driver of the other vehicle faces murder charges.

Kentucky State Police responded Thursday morning to mile marker 89 near Oak Grove at the Kentucky-Tennessee state line.
 
Preliminary investigation revealed that 69-year-old Harold Johnson of Colorado Springs, CO, was operating a van east on I-24, with his 68-year-old wife, Louise as his passenger. A semi tractor-trailer driven by 54-year-old Timothy Baldwin of Monticello, MN, allegedly struck the back of Johnson’s vehicle, forcing it off the road and into a ditch. 

Mr. and Mrs. Johnson were transported to Gateway Medical Center in Clarksville, TN, were Mr. Johnson died as a result of his injuries.  Mr. Baldwin was not injured, and everyone was wearing a seatbelt.

Baldwin was arrested and charged with murder, DUI 1st offense, fleeing or evading police on foot, wanton endangerment of a police officer 1st Degree, and resisting arrest.
