Flag from Afghanistan Comes to Calvert City
By CALVERT CITY, KY
CALVERT CITY, KY - The American Legion Post in Calvert City recently received a gift.

Marshall County resident Regina Adams presented an American flag which flew at a U.S. military base in Afghanistan to American Legion Post 236 Commander William Stone. The flag was given to Adams’ nephew, Stephen P. Rogers, who was serving with the 101st Airborne Division, after a close friend of the soldier was killed in action in 2009.

The American Legion, chartered and incorporated by Congress in 1919, is a patriotic veterans organization devoted to mutual helpfulness. It is the nation’s largest veterans service organization, committed to mentoring and sponsorship of youth programs in our communities, advocating patriotism and honor, and promoting a strong national security and continued devotion to our fellow service members and veterans.
