A former high school teacher in Livingston County entered a guilty plea last week to several charges in federal court.

The US Attorney's Office for the Western District of Kentucky says Stephen Maddux appeared in court July 9 before Judge Thomas B. Russell. Maddux pleaded guilty to two counts of attempted enticement of a minor to engage in sexual activity, and one count each of transportation with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity with a minor, and distribution of child pornography. A charge of production of child pornography was dismissed.

Maddux was indicted on February 12 on the charges, related to accusations that he drove a student under 18 to an Illinois motel to engage in sex. The crimes against two victims took place between December 2016 and February 2018. Maddux taught at Livingston Central High School from July 2011 to October 2018.

The US Attorney's Office says Maddux will appear for sentencing on October 30.
