Circuit Judge Dennis Foust on Friday issued an order that denies a motion from Jerry Walker's defense counsel to dismiss charges of tampering with physical evidence in connection to a deadly Murray State dormitory fire in 1998.

Walker did not appear in court today.

Earlier this year, he was found not guilty of a variety of charges related to the fire, including arson and assault. This was the second time Walker had been tried. A 2001 trial led to a hung jury.

Walker told Kentucky State Police years ago that he did write a series of anonymous letters following the fire; letters that perhaps would lead officers to look at other persons of interest in the case.

The blaze at Hester Hall claimed one student.

Walker's next court appearance is scheduled for November 13.
