KSP was contacted by officials at the Fulton County Detention Center on Wednesday at approximately 10:20 am. State police said the jail staff was conducting routine cell checks when they located 26-year-old Kyle E. Combs, of Lost Creek, KY, in his cell in a semi-conscious state. Combs was transported to Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union City, TN where he was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Preliminary investigation shows that Combs overdosed on an unknown drug while in custody. Kentucky State Police detectives are looking into how Combs may have obtained the substance that he overdosed on.
