Ballard County Adult Education now is offering GED classes at the Barlow City Library on Wednesdays from 1-3 pm.

The library is located in the City Hall Annex (old City Hall), behind the City Hall building at 139 N. Fourth St.

The GED exam comes with four separate tests that can be taken individually within a 2-year period of time. Please note that the GED test is not offered online, you will have to come to a GED test center in person. After completing the GED exam you will receive a diploma that is all across America recognized and accepted as being comparable to high school diploma by virtually all businesses, government agencies, employers, recruiters, and colleges.

In Kentucky, all applicants must complete adult education preparation classes, obtain the Test Readiness Certification, and successfully take the official GED Ready Test (practice test) before they are allowed to sit for the examination. All these prerequisites can be completed at the state’s Adult Education sites or through the KET GED Connection program.

Adult Education also maintains its regular hours in the Community Center at 158 E. Third St. in LaCenter, on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 8 am to 3:30 pm, and on Tuesday from 1:30-7 p.m.

For more information, contact Adult Ed Director Chris Hildebrand 270-665-8412, ext. 223, or email chris.hildebrand@ballard.kyschools.us.

For more information about the program at the Barlow City Library, call Marcy Fraser at 270-334-3500, or message the library on Facebook. Hours are Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Interested persons also can drop in either location during regular hours.
