Gas Prices Continue to Slide

WESTERN KENTUCKY - After dropping by nine cents last week, the average price of gasoline across west central Kentucky is four cents cheaper this week.

According to AAA's Gas Price Report, this week's average price is $2.43. Last year at this time it was $2.71.

Paducah's average price this past week was $2.37. Other Kentucky cities include:

$2.36        Bowling Green
$2.28        Elizabethtown
$2.79        Louisville
$2.33        Owensboro

Compared to last month,  states seeing the largest drops are Ohio at 29 cents, Michigan at 28 cents, Indiana at 26 cents, Kentucky at 21 cents, Illinois at 20 cents, and Tennessee and Oklahoma at 19 cents.

On the week, regional gasoline inventories increased by 200,000 barrels to register at 48.3 million barrels.  Refinery production has also been strong in the region, with operating rates increasing 4% on the week to reach a total of 88%.
