Average retail gasoline prices in Kentucky rose almost a penny per gallon in the past week, averaging $2.19 a gallon Sunday. Nationally, the average increased a half a cent to $2.28 a gallon, according to gasoline price website GasBuddy.com.

Prices Sunday were 51 cents per gallon higher than the same day one year ago and are 3 cents per gallon higher than a month ago.

In Paducah, prices ranged from $2.02 to $2.19 a gallon.

"With refinery maintenance and turnarounds beginning across the country, we'll likely see a draw down on winter gasoline stocks, leading the national average to rise in the week ahead," said Patrick DeHaan, GasBuddy senior petroleum analyst.
