Gas Prices Stable in Spite of Hurricane Delta
By West Kentucky Star Staff
WESTERN KENTUCKY - Gas prices in West Central Kentucky are stable this week at $1.96 per gallon, according to AAA’s weekly gas price report.

While the price is the same as late week, it's 32 cents lower than a year ago, when it was $2.28.

The price stability comes in spite of Hurricane Delta making landfall in Louisiana over the weekend. While gas refineries are reporting they have resumed operation, approximately 91 percent of oil refineries in the Gulf of Mexico were reportedly offline on Monday. Inspections are underway and production should resume this week.

Hurricane season would typically cause gas prices to spike, but this is not a typical year. Low gas demand and a high supply have contained any impact on prices.

Average prices in Kentucky include:

$1.97        Bowling Green
$1.84       Elizabethtown
$2.23        Louisville
$1.88        Owensboro
$1.89        Paducah
